(MN447 x Northern Spy) University of MN, 1978. Medium-sized red striped apple with crisp, juicy texture. Excellent sweet, unusual flavor -- like cherry candy. Outstanding dessert apple. Fire blight resistant. Can be slow to come into bearing better on dwarf rootstock. Some have said that it is like a fine Kentucky bourbon, but I can assure you it doesn't burn going down. Northern Spy and Malinda are in this varieties lineage to give its great hardiness.
